Text as Featured in Sedbergh & District Magazine:

Louise’s photography consists of elements of portraiture, rural culture and documentary photography.

As a child growing up on a smallholding in Cumbria, Louise has gained a good understanding of farming practices with many of her family in the farming and agricultural industry. Louise therefore has a mutual enthusiasm towards this way of life and to showcase and document it in all its glory.

Louise enjoys capturing a rural community and the individuals who live and work the land. Her work connects to the individuals she’s photographing in an honest way and explores the person’s relationship to their environment. Demonstrated in the two books she’s produced: “Farming’s not just a job, it’s a way of life” & “Rural Kids” available to buy online or through Louise direct.

“I enjoy nothing more than putting my wellies on and heading to a local farm shoot whether that’s a livestock shoot or a farming families portrait shoot, or maybe even a pheasant shoot there’s so much potential in these environments to capture stunning imagery.”

Louise offers other photography services, she transfers her documentary style to wedding photography enabling her to create stunning photos of the bride and groom’s big day, telling their story as it unfolds, and allows Louise to blend into the background capturing beautiful, natural shots rather than being obtrusive to your proceedings. Choosing your wedding photographer is one of the most important decisions you will make about your big day, after all, your wedding photographs are what’s left once everything else has been packed up and put away, they are a document of history to be looked at by generations to come. Louise is based in Kendal, and works closely with the wedding couple and offers a wedding consultation before the date as a chance to meet to discuss what exactly the couple want, Louise also offers an engagement shoot (included in some of her wedding packages) which is also a great chance to meet and get comfortable in front of the lens before the big day.

As well as this Louise offers pet portraits, newborn portraits, events and more…Louise Thompson Photography is all about offering you a professional and reliable photographic service with highly competitive pricing. So whether it’s the skills you have or the things you make, the people you love or the dreams you have I’d love to capture and be apart of that journey showing the emotions, the memories, and the story you want to tell.

“Louise came and photographed my two young boys and their ponies…while muddy and dressed in their playing out clothes. No posing, just beautiful natural pictures. I would definitely recommend.” – Liz James (Firbank, Sedbergh)
